Bombshell is about how the revelation that Fox News CEO Roger AIles and other members of the network came out as sexual harassers due to female employees who finally spoke out.
This was a really well directed work. Given that this is about a pretty unpleasant subject matter, director Jay Roach (who started off in comedy with such films as Austin Powers and Meet the Parents) made perhaps the wise decision to try not to go too dark. There is a more of a focus on the female leads efforts within and against Fox News, trying not to define the women merely with what was done to them, and a darkly humorous look at a the company culture. A lot of exposition in the first third is is presented in a pretty audience-friendly manner.
Understand that when I say that things don't get too depressing that that doesn't mean the harassment is sugarcoated. The scenes that address this are emotionally striking with how awful the whole thing is. The movie is also pretty nuanced and three-dimensional in depicting the people involved and the situations.
My one issue is that a little too much specific factoids are spoken directly to the audience. However given that a movie criticizing conservative Fox News is a politically taut situation, I can see why the filmmakers want to demonstrate that they weren't being sloppy with their presentation of the events.
The cast is all around great. You'll probably be surprised by some of the faces that pop up here. Charlize Theron and Nicole Kidman are great in this. John Lithgow delivers one of the best roles of his career as Roger AIles, managing to portray a loathsome creep while also making it seem natural how he manages to command loyalty among his employees and allies.
This is a well done film and I recommend this.

Bombshell trailer song. Bombshell song. Bombshell is absolutely loaded with talent, as it boasts the names of Margot Robbie, Nicole Kidman, Charlize Theron, Jonathon Lithgow, and others. Everyone brings in a great performance, but Theron and Lithgow were especially noticeable. It's really their movie, and the other actors are nice accompanying pieces.
The actual story which Bombshell is based on only happened a few years ago, but it was fascinating to watch it all unfold on screen. Lithgow does such an incredible job at portraying a man with so much power and the lengths he is willing to go to in order to exercise this control over the staff members beneath him.
This type of sexual harassment is something which happens in Hollywood more often than you would believe, so it's nice to have a film out there which shows that people can come forward and speak out if they are going through something of a a similar nature. Bombshell isn't a documentary and so I don't know if everything is 100% accurate, but I can imagine they didn't stretch too far from the truth.
Having said that, the film does make some odd choices with a few of the supporting characters, and I never felt that it reached the depths that it probably should have. I don't really know what I would have done differently, but I did feel that a little more emotional depth would have been the thing that turned a really good movie into a great one.
All-in-all, Bombshell is absolutely worth a trip out to see it!

OK just to clarify: Jimmy doesn't regret marrying Nancy, and no way in hell would he ever leave her for someone else. You should see the way he talks about her, it's so tender. Oh ok then. it's not only me, who didn't recognize Charlize Theron! 😂.

There are laws throughout the country that protect women and men against this in the workplace. No tolerance and the end should have shown all men who have been accused in the last five years not just the two from FOX. There are predators everywhere. Bombshells dallas. Bombshell 2019 cast. These are divisive times, it's ridiculous to blame Obama for Republican's unwillingness to come to the table with unclenched fists and when trying to pass a national healthcare law.
